Many sailors study their charts with concern, noting how convenient it would be to slip between islands or through straits that appear too shallow. But it doesn’t have to be that way. This book presents around a hundred such passages—routes “where no one would think it possible to sail.” Each shortcut is described in detail, accompanied by aerial photography and Hydrographica’s specialized, high-detail charts. Many of these routes offer safer, more secure passage options; for instance, the book describes how smaller boats can travel from Dalarö to Nynäshamn without having to venture out onto the open waters of Mysingen.
